The Neuro-Immunology clinic is held every Tuesday morning in the Neurology Consulting Suites on the 5th Floor of the Daly Wing of St. Vincent's Hospital (see map). The clinic aims to provide personalized and private quality of care for people with neuro immunological diseases. The majority of patients who attend this clinic have Multiple Sclerosis, but treatment is not restricted to this condition.
The clinic is staffed by 2 Neurologists, a Neurology Fellow, and a MS/ Immunotherapy nurse. The clinic is also attended by a social worker/nurse from the MS Society. This combination of staff allows the client to have access to the latest treatments and up to date information on all aspects of their condition.
The clinic also has strong links to the Neuroradiology, Neurophysiology, Neuropsychiatry and Psychology Departments at St Vincent's Hospital.
The clinic sees over 400 clients a year for either consultative input or ongoing care. Referrals primarily come from the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, which St Vincent's has close ties with, as well as from the 16 neurologists who are associated with St Vincent's Hospital (see Staff). Referral can come directly from any treating doctor.
The consultant Neurologists are supportive of the research undertaken in this clinic and provide referrals for their private patients who wish to participate in clinical trials. St Vincent 's also has a large country referral base. Our General Practitioner and Neurologists also facilitate links with General Practitioners in the community.
